Anchor in a real date. Use the future milestone (e.g. “It’s Dec. 31, 2025…”) to ground your thinking. Aim for observable outcomes, not vague aspirations.
Get specific about success. “Improve communication” isn’t a milestone. “Launch a new onboarding flow that reduces support tickets by 20%” is.
Name what could block you. Reassess blockers from the perspective of your future milestone to see what really might impede the success.
Use your team’s strengths. Identify how your unique team dynamics or capabilities can build momentum. For example: We build clarity quickly in short, focused working sessions, not docs.
